If MovieSlate speaker button seems to mute the volume

When recording a new voice note, or viewing a list of voice notes...

There's a “Speaker” button that mutes the iPhone’s earpiece and routes the audio through the iPhone’s speaker.

It may seem obvious, but: if you cannot hear any audio through the iPhone’s speaker, please check the volume control on the side of the iPhone. The earpiece and speaker each have separate volume settings.
